Dia de los Muertos
This holiday has always been special to me.
As a young girl, I remember making calaveras
for all of our cats who were victims of the
heavy traffic on our street. Sitting on the patio
under the banana trees, I mixed papier mache
and created artwork for my yearly altar de los muertos.

As more and more of my friends, family, and pets join the spirit world, the artwork takes
on a deeper meaning. I continue to focus on pet calaveras in an attempt to bring some
levity to the incredible pain of loss.
